Evalena Hoskins is a lifelong advocate for justice, education, and equality. A proud graduate of Alfred E. Beach High School and Savannah State College, she dedicated over 30 years of service as an educator in the public school system, shaping the lives of countless students with compassion, discipline, and purpose.

Beyond the classroom, Mrs. Hoskins was a committed member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church and an active member in the Civil Rights Movement in Savannah.
She marched for equality, knelt in churches for justice, and stood fearlessly against racial injustice. As one of the original demonstrators who staged sit-ins at the Broughton Street lunch counters, she helped pave the way for integration and social change in Savannah.
Her activism extended beyond the city's streets as she was a proud member of the NAACP Youth Council. She took part in historic protests, including wading into Tybee Beach when African Americans were denied access.
Through her courage, resilience, and unwavering dedication, Evalena Hoskins made a lasting impact on the Civil Rights Movement and continues to be a symbol of strength and inspiration for generations to come.
