Honoring Dr. King Through Service and Opportunity
Since 1985, the MLK Observance Day Association, Inc. has proudly served Savannah as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Each year, the Association leads Savannah’s celebration of the national holiday honoring Dr. King. Through educational programs, community activities, and the Annual Observance Day Celebration, we continue sharing his message of peace, unity, justice, and service.
Our work extends beyond the annual celebration. The Association awards scholarships to Savannah-area students pursuing a college education. We believe education provides young people with the knowledge and opportunities needed to become productive citizens and future leaders.
The Association also supports local organizations serving the Savannah community, including the West Broad Street YMCA, the Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum, and Georgia Legal Aid.
Inspired by Dr. King’s commitment to eradicating poverty and injustice, we remain focused on serving others, expanding opportunity, and helping build a stronger Savannah for generations to come.
